[Corporate Citizenship] A comprehensive framework developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the International Business Leaders Forum (IBLF) offers guidance to companies aligned to three areas: core business operations, social investment and philanthropy, and public advocacy and dialogue. The framework offers useful examples and indicators for each of the eight goals, of what companies could or should do.

BOOKS: Citizens or subjects that is the question
[Tribune] “Like the civil society”, he notes, “citizenship has come to mean everything and nothing: the nationality indicated by a passport, entitlement to benefits, commitment to a particular political or social order, even decent behaviour towards one’s colleagues on university campuses”. This observation is a bit confusing, coming from someone who so carefully follows the history of citizenship from its “restrictive, less relevant” beginnings through its complex, “more relevant” development and who, in the end, fails to place the meaning of “diffuse” within his parameters of “relevance”.

Sooner Rose teacher particiaptes in class on good citizenship
[The Sun--Local News] Jennifer Bazzit teaches fourth and fifth grade social studies at Sooner Rose Elementary School in Midwest City because she thinks it’s important to help students become better citizens. Bazzit also got a crash course in citizenship on July 13-17 as part of the Programs Advancing Citizenship Education Institute, coordinated by the Oklahoma Bar Association.

Brown’s Britishness: Nationality Or Citizenship?
[Britology Watch: Deconstructing 'British Values'] This brings about a peculiar reversal whereby the formal process of subscribing (to use GB’s term) to the principles - rights and responsibilities - of UK / British citizenship that would-be settlers here will have to go through, if GB’s proposals are implemented, make them almost more properly British citizens than those who consider themselves as in some degree British by virtue of having always lived here and of viewing themselves - additionally or primarily - as English, Scottish, Welsh or Irish. This is because, under GB’s vision, the process of becoming a British citizen is transformed into a rite of passage, where you have to pass a number of tests that prove the sincerity of your wish to be a British citizen which, through the rights and responsibilities citizenship embodies and enacts, actually means something:
